On 22nd of October UTLC ERA JSC organized a panel session «Digitalization as a key to the successful development of transit traffic» at the International Customs Forum.
The event will be attended by the Deputy Head of the FCS of Russia Denis Tereshchenko, Director for Relations with Government Authorities of JSC UTLC ERA Larisa Korshunova, as well as representatives of companies which organize and support container rail transportation.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the functioning of the global economy and international trade. These factors led to an accelerated transition of shippers from maritime transport to rail transport. Thus, at the end of 2020, the volume of transit container traffic through the infrastructure of Russian Railways increased by 37% compared to 2019. To maintain this trend in the future, it is necessary to combine the efforts of business and customs authorities.
During the session, experts will discuss amendments to the EAEU Customs Code (in the context of the development of cross-border rail transport). Special attention will be paid to the issues of interaction between the participants of the transportation process, customs representatives and customs authorities at railway checkpoints, as well as the practices and prospects of using navigation seals in railway transportation.
